YouTube Repeater lets you play videos on a loop.

YouTube Repeater is a browser extension for Windows. A browser extension is a program that’s hosted by your web browser and provides some type of functionality. In this case, the extension gives you the ability to play YouTube videos on a loop. Once set up, it requires no manual action, and it avoids YouTube from moving on to a new video when the current one ends.

Why would you repeat a video? In one scenario, a retail company had created an infomercial and uploaded it to YouTube. The company then used this app to repeat the infomercial on a screen that played near the product being sold. YouTube Repeater also supports playlists, so you could have a playlist for a favorite album or a series of albums and just play that on a loop.

YouTube Repeater gives you precise control over the loop as well. You can set it to repeat indefinitely or to loop x number of times. Set it to loop five times, and the page will just stop entirely after the fifth time. You can also set specific start and end times. So, you could, for instance, just put a one-minute slice on a loop. Each reset, the extension will automatically start the video at the right point.

Once installed in the appropriate web browser, the extension simply adds a button to the YouTube interface, so it’s pretty slick in that regard. The button is a loop toggle or can be used to access the settings for loop count, start time, stop time and so forth. The extension works with all YouTube interfaces but may need to be updated when and if a UI overhaul is introduced.

YouTube Repeater is a solid app that achieves what it sets out to do. If we’re quibbling, it is YouTube only, and support for other major video providers would be nice. In addition, there are features like creating repeater links for friends that require them to have the extension and seem a bit undercooked.
